After losing to the New York Giants on January 20, 2008 in the NFC championship game, Packer quarterback, #4 Brett Favre returned to his home and put on his favorite pair of Wrangler jeans. Just two years later, after losing the NFC championship game to the New Orleans Saints on January, 24, 2010, Brett took off his purple and yellow Viking tights and replaced them with that same pair of Wrangler jeans.
Is there a reason Brett Favre would endorse a $20 brand of jeans when he spends more time in spandex? Wrangler jeans are known for their durability and strength, just as the retired, then un-retired aged and indecisive Brett Favre. The Wrangler slogan “You can count on Wrangler” boasts its accountability even in tough economic times, offering their jeans at a low cost of less than $20 per pair. Wrangler wanted Brett, “a genuine Wrangler guy,” to relay the comfort, quality, and value of their product.
An article in Demonology shares its tiredness from hearing stories about Brett Favre. They criticize Wrangler for picking Favre to endorse their new fall ad campaign at the same time as the media craze concerning his retirement status and the possibility of playing with the Vikings. Although I agree Wrangler may have picked Favre for their new fall 2009 ad campaign because of the media attention, it is important to remember that he endorsed Wrangler before he this media craze. Either way, no man, including Brett Favre, can wear two pairs of pants at the same time.
